The first live NM meeting for 19 months was for me a great success - the social side of the club was back again. Even before the actual meeting started, three, then four of us, chatted away, putting ourselves at ease and setting ourselves up for the rest of the evening. Once the equipment was set up we filmed a script of John's, then Terry and I conducted an interview about Covid, the lockdown and how we got through it. This was followed by Alan’s script for a film he wants to make. Afterwards we watched a few films, but the evening was over far too soon.
Alan writes in “Lockdown, and Up Again” “Last Thursday, we held our first ‘live’ meeting for well over a year. It was rather strange being back in our old room, but good to see old friends in person. Ill health, other commitments and Covid anxiety limited us to a small gathering of just six (but, ‘six of the best’, of course) and we started with some actual filming. John had suggested that anyone who wished could record a short piece about our experiences during lockdown. John and I both read from prepared scripts and Nigel conducted an interview with Terry. Michael and I did the filming. We now need to combine the words with some relevant images. I will probably use a mixture of archive pictures and some borrowed from the internet. Amazingly, after so long, Geoff Payne was able to get the projection equipment going again, so that we could watch some films on the big screen. I hope that more of us can get together for our next scheduled Higham Lane meeting on 18 November.
